Shuswap newspapers to amlagamate

The Lakeshore News will be merged with the Shuswap Market News as of March 24.

The Lakeshore News will be merging with the Salmon Arm Observer and Shuswap Market News later this month.

The merge will provide an enhanced Shuswap Market News, which will also feature the best of the Lakeshore News, including the popular Break Time, Any Time feature.

The last issue of the Lakeshore News will publish on March 17 and the current Lakeshore News operation on Hudson Avenue will transfer to the Salmon Arm Observer/Shuswap Market News office at 171 Shuswap Street NW.

All three newspapers were already owned by Black Press prior to this merger.

The merger of the two newspapers will take place March 24, with delivery of the new edition of the Shuswap Market News on that date.

The publisher of the Lakeshore News, Jeff Morrison, will be joining the sales team as a senior sales advisor at the Observer.

The three other Lakeshore News employees are being provided with transition packages to assist them in finding new employment opportunities.

No Salmon Arm Observer or Shuswap Market News employees have been affected by the merger.

The Salmon Arm Observer will continue to publish our subscription product on Wednesday with the free-distribution Shuswap Market News published on Friday. The Observer will also be launching an updated website shortly to ensure our readers receive the most comprehensive, credible and accurate information both in print and online.
