The Bruhn Bridge was the site of yet another motor-vehicle incident when a semi truck hit an SUV in the process of turning left off of Highway 1.
On Feb. 10 at 12:30 p.m., Sicamous RCMP responded to the collision at the intersection of Old Spallumcheen Road, immediately west of the bridge. While waiting to turn onto Old Spallumcheen, the SUV, occupied by its driver and her two children, was struck from behind.
鈥淎 witness told police that the SUV was stopped in traffic when it was struck,鈥 Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a Feb. 14 media release. He added that no injuries were reported, but the SUV was not driveable and had to be towed from the scene.
Speeder
Later that same day, at 7 p.m., officers were conducting speed enforcement in the 60 km/h zone on Highway 1 near Green Road, where they clocked a westbound Land Rover doing 108 km/h in the area that is populated with nearby businesses.
鈥淭he 34-year-old driver was issued an excessive speeding ticket,鈥 McNeil said in the release. 鈥淎nd his vehicle was impounded for seven days.鈥
