Snow coated Okanagan highways overnight and is expected to continue throughout Saturday.
On Saturday morning, Dec. 2, Environment Canada extended its snowfall warnings for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.
Both highways experienced 15-20 centimetres throughout the night and into the morning, and the Coquihalla is expected to see another 10-15 cm while Highway 3 is expecting 5-10 cm.
鈥淎 frontal system crossing southern B.C. is bringing heavy snow to parts of the region,鈥 said Environment Canada. 鈥淗eavy snow is expected to taper off to a few flurries later this morning.鈥
The Okanagan Connector received some snow overnight but isn鈥檛 affected by the snowfall warning. The stretch of highway is expected to get 2-4 cm on Saturday.
鈥淩apidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult,鈥 states Environment Canada. 鈥淪urfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.鈥
The provincial government鈥檚 Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure currently has the in affect.
In the Okanagan, a few inches of snow is on the ground in 91大黄鸭, Penticton, Vernon, and Salmon Arm.
