As the snow continues to fall highways throughout the Southern Interior are becoming more and more treacherous to drive on.
A snowfall warning is in effect for Highway 1 from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, while slippery compact snow warnings are in effect for all the remaining major highways in the area.
Motorists are being urged to take precaution along all Interior highways especially Highway 97C, Highway 5, Highway 3 and Highway 1.
Environment Canada is reporting an extended period of snowfall along the Trans-Canada Highway, from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, with total amounts of 20 to 30 cm continues.
鈥淚t is persisting longer in the eastern areas, the snow system is ending from west to east,鈥 says Environment Canada meteorologist Ross MacDonald who adds that the snow will break today before starting again tonight.
鈥淭hey will see the snow return again early tomorrow morning with another 10-14 centimetres.鈥
MacDonald says the remaining highways can expect 10-15 centimetres of fresh snow overnight, Monday.
鈥淚t is certainly winter driving conditions out there.鈥
