91大黄鸭 B.C. North American Development Group (NADG), co-developer of McKinley Beach, and 1151 Sunset Drive developer and builder, Kerkhoff Construction, are partnering to develop 91大黄鸭鈥檚 tallest high-rise condominium tower project.
NADG and Kerkhoff have been working with the City of 91大黄鸭 Planning Department on their rezoning application for the site located at Sunset Drive and Water Street across from the Prospera Place Arena. The site has sat vacant, with a large mound of dirt in the middle of the downtown landscape for 10 years
Named One Water Street to reflect its address, its proximity to the lake, and its downtown urban Okanagan feel, the proposed condominium project consists of two towers. If approved by the City, they will be the tallest towers between Metro Vancouver and Calgary at 29 and 36 storeys respectively. The taller high-rise tower design offers several distinct advantages over larger footprint mid-rise towers. Advantages include better view-corridors between the towers, better views from the homes and a more iconic and distinctive affect to the 91大黄鸭 downtown area.
鈥淥ur aim, in creating One Water Street, was to enhance the sense of place in downtown 91大黄鸭 that connects Sunset Drive to the Cultural District,鈥 said Henry Bereznicki, managing partner, NADG.
鈥淭his includes both private and public spaces such as street side caf茅s, while creating an iconic and visual symbol of the elevation and evolution of 91大黄鸭鈥檚 downtown and its position as the urban centre of the Okanagan.鈥
The partnership has engaged Kasian Architecture to design One Water Street. Kasian designed the National Music Centre, in Calgary, AB, and the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery in Surrey, BC. In 91大黄鸭, it designed the Arts and Science Centre, and the Charles E. Fipke Centre for Innovative Research. Kasian uses collaborative community minded thinking to design buildings that are distinctive and distinguished. They are recognized by New York鈥檚 Interior Design Magazine as one of the top 100 firms in the world based on the criteria of fees, market and growth.
One Water Street is a partnership between two highly successful developers with strong track records. NADG has been actively developing retail and residential property for 37 years. The organization has offices across North America, five in the United States and six in Canada, and a team of more than 150 seasoned real estate professionals.
The two companies will unveil more details about the architectural form and character of this proposed downtown development at a Public Open House to be held on June 7 (5 p.m. 鈥 7 p.m.) at the Laurel Packinghouse on Cawston and Ellis.
