Two youth had a high-flying experience along Kalamalka Lake Monday.
Vernon Search and Rescue received a report of two 16-year-old boys stranded on a rock cliff along the Okanagan Rail Trail at about 3 p.m.
鈥淭hey had got part way up and they started slipping. They couldn鈥檛 go up and they couldn鈥檛 go down,鈥� said Leigh Pearson, search manager.
The pair were about 60 feet above the ground so SAR decided to use its helicopter winch to lower a member and then remove the teens.
鈥淚t worked really well,鈥� said Pearson.
Pearson is urging caution when residents consider going rock climbing.
鈥淭hey had no equipment, no ropes. Go with someone who is experienced and can teach you the skills,鈥� he said.
