The RCMP have begun full operations at the new 91大黄鸭 RCMP Detachment, City of 91大黄鸭 Police Services Building at 1190 Richter St.
The $48-million project includes upgraded underground infrastructure, along with road and intersection upgrades on Clement Avenue.
鈥淭here is still some minor interior finishing work to be completed, but the 380 members and support staff from all three facilities across the City are fully moved in,鈥 said Andrew Gibbs, project manager, in a press release.
The City of 91大黄鸭 and the 91大黄鸭 RCMP will be joined by special guests and dignitaries to officially open the new 91大黄鸭 RCMP Detachment on Tuesday, June 27.
Residents are invited to attend the grand opening ceremony which will begin at 11 a.m. at the new RCMP detachment on Richter Street.
The event will feature a ceremonial Red Serge march starting at the old detachment on Doyle Avenue beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m.. The troop of Mounties in Red Serge will be joined by a parade of Auxiliary Constables, RCMP volunteers and civilian staff employees from throughout the Regional Detachment area.
鈥淭he new facility is of a significant benefit to the operational effectiveness of the detachment,鈥 said Superintendent Brent Mundle. 鈥淲e look forward to continue serving the community from one central location.鈥
The facility features modern standards for functions such as Evidence, Identification, Forensics, Records, Laboratory, and Cell Block; standards that were not met in 1960s-era facility on Doyle Avenue.
