The next time you do that medal-winning dive off the former CNR Wharf in West 91大黄鸭's Gellatly Bay, remember, the eyes of the world could be on you.

The city says the wharf, one of West 91大黄鸭鈥檚 most popular summer recreation attractions, can now be seen live around the world courtesy of a new web cam.

The camera was installed at the end of summer at the completely restored and award-winning wooden historic landmark, which is sometimes referred to as the 鈥渙ld ferry dock.鈥�

The web cam is set up to capture a full view of the wharf and a glimpse of the panoramic lake and mountain views in the background, as well as serve as  security measure.

The wharf is a popular spot for photography, sightseeing, fitness breaks, fishing, swimming and even a wedding proposal now and then, says city hall.

And, occasionally, an eagle or osprey may even take advantage of the wharf鈥檚 twin towers to watch for passing fish.

It is one of the community鈥檚 most recognizable landmarks and was an economic hub for many years after it was built in 1930.

But with construction of the former Okanagan Lake Floating Bridge in 1952, the wharf ceased to be important from a economic and transportation point of view and became more of a recreational amenity.

The site was the first to be listed on West 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Heritage Register and in 2014 the city restored the entire structure, preserving its historical character throughout the rehabilitation process. As part of the restoration project, the city added special features, such as a zip line, to create added recreational amenities for youths.

In February 2015, the Central Okanagan Heritage Society recognized the West 91大黄鸭鈥檚 restoration efforts by awarding the CNR Wharf upgrade with its Special Heritage Project Award.
