A winter storm warning is in effect for the Trans-Canada Highway, from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
Environment Canada warned hazardous winter road conditions were expected along this section of highway beginning Friday evening, Dec. 6, and continuing until Saturday.
A Pacific frontal system was expected to bring snowfall to parts of the Central Interior this evening, with accumulations ranging from 20 to 30 centimetres, reported Environment Canada.
"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions."
Friday's forecast for Salmon Arm included a 30 per cent chance of flurries or rain. On Friday morning, however, the city was experiencing ice rain.
The evening brings a 60 percent chance of flurries or rain showers.
A winter snowfall warning was issued Friday for the West Columbia region, beginning this evening and continuing to Saturday afternoon. The Friday morning forecast for Revelstoke offered a 60 per cent chance flurries or showers, with a 70 per cent chance of rain the following day.
