The 91大黄鸭 RCMP took a report of a robbery that occurred the night prior on Hartman Road near Richards Road in Rutland, Feb. 19 at 11:14 a.m.
The woman told police that, at approx. 9 pm on Feb. 18, she was approached from behind by a male suspect who grabbed onto her purse.
"The woman resisted the suspect at first, when he told the woman "give me your purse!" She released it to the suspect, who opened her wallet, removed an undetermined amount of cash, gave her the purse back and fled westbound on Hartman Road towards Rutland Road on foot," said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey. "The victim was fearful, she ran home, and failed to report the incident to police due to her fear."
The 91大黄鸭 RCMP have determined that the victim had disembarked the Number 8 bus at a stop outside the Rutland Mac's. She was not injured during the incident.
"RCMP would like to urge anyone who is the victim of any offence, especially a serious crime such as a robbery or assault, to report the incident to police as soon as it is safe for you to do so," said O'Donaghey.
Police are seeking witnesses as they continue to investigate. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cst. Scott Monuik of the 91大黄鸭 RCMP at 250-762-3300.
