April 15, 1964 - October 20, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of April Elizabeth Engler.
Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, April was the eldest of three children. The Engler Family moved to the West Coast, where her dad's work took the family to several small communities. Eventually, the Engler's made it to 91大黄鸭 in the Okanagan Valley.
April was well known for her athleticism, especially on the softball field and volleyball court. In her senior year at Mount Boucherie Secondary, April was awarded a key to the City of 91大黄鸭 for her athletic accomplishments. However, in the Engler family, arm wrestling was always a way of expressing competitiveness and determination, and April brought this well-developed skill into the world of professional arm wrestling. She became the Canadian Champion on several occasions, competing and finishing second in the world championships.
April refined her competitiveness and determination further, which resulted in a long and very successful career in sales and the opportunity to travel throughout North America.
Out of the limelight, April was a tremendously generous soul who would do anything to help family, friends and sometimes strangers. April always found ways to support animal rescue groups and shelters, and often in a hands-on manner, she adored her animal friends.
April is survived by her best friend and sister, Becky. Predeceasing April was her father, David, mother, Patricia (Trish) and brother, Keith.
The family wishes to express gratitude to all the staff at 91大黄鸭 General Hospital's ICU for the excellent care provided to April in her short illness and final days. Donations can be made to the Okanagan Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
April, your wit, humour and distinctive laugh will be greatly missed.
