September 22, 1934 - January 13, 2024

The family of Dosolina (Lena) Bazzana wishes to announce her passing on the evening of January 13th in 91大黄鸭 Hospice House.

She has left behind her loving husband Arturo of 69 years, two daughters Loretta Stutters (Keith) and Diana Bryan (Dale) plus five grandchildren, Lisa Schneider (Jordan), Cameron Stutters (Leigh), Shawna Whiting (Jonathan), Alicia Jeffery (Jamie), Kyle Bryan (Emily). Mom also has eight great-grandchildren.

There are several relatives in Italy that mom was close to and also her dear older sister Vilma in Creston, BC. There are many nieces and nephews who treasured their times with Mom as well.

Thank you to Cousin Mary for helping us navigate our way through these past few months, you have been a great help to us.

At the young age of 19, Mom crossed the Atlantic from Italy in February 1954, then took a train across Canada to Jasper to meet up with her fiance. They were married in March 1954 in Prince Rupert. There was a large community of Italians to help them get settled in a land where they knew not the language or customs.

In 1971 the Okanagan with its warm weather and family members called out to them and the move was made. Mom found work pruning grape vines and doing other domestic-type jobs until she was hired at Calona Wines and there she remained for 20 years until retirement.

Mom loved hospitality, and cooking for her was a joy. There was always extra room for drop-in visitors and she always offered them a meal, dad's homemade wine, cheese plus all the leftovers that she had cooked up. The entire family loved her pasta sauce and it was only in recent years that we discovered her secret ingredient for us to carry on the tradition of her delicious cooking.

Family was everything to her, she was so proud of her grandchildren and all the accomplishments they achieved in their lives. She loved the weddings, and then when the great-grandchildren came along she was over the moon.

Mom would talk about her family to anyone who would listen, she was so proud.

Mom loved having a vegetable garden and Dad and her would share their bounty with others. Flowers were everywhere in her yard, she meticulously looked after them. On a summer's evening she would be outside deadheading the flowers and neighbors would walk by for a conversation with her, she loved it.

Dad honoured Mom these last months by going to her bedside each and every day in the hospital to stay by his wife and watch over her as she tried hard to recover.

Now Mom is without pain, in peace and with our Lord. The family will miss her.

There will be a funeral mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Monday, January 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at 1056 Fuller Ave. 91大黄鸭
