McEachern, Kay (Kathleen; Nee Kirschner): Passed away on April 14th, 2022 at the age of 96. Born July 5, 1925 in 91大黄鸭, she has deep roots here.
She will be missed dearly by daughter Heather(Bruce) and granddaughters Samantha(Jesse) and Delaine (Adam) and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her loving brother Frank Kirschner, many nieces and nephews, and friends from 'old 91大黄鸭.'
She never moved far but thought the move from the north end of 91大黄鸭 to KLO road was 'out in the country' and too far from her mother! Then she embraced that hobby farm and had a true green thumb for roses, flowers, and vegetables.
Family would visit and camp and take loads of fruits, grapes, and vegetables, and she and John canned and truly ate off the land. Her neighbors were good friends.
She is predeceased by most everyone from her and her husband John's siblings and friends; she saw them all go and missed them dearly.
She had an extraordinary memory, and her passing is the end of an era with richness of knowledge gone, but we hope to pay forward her nurturing, her wisdom, her patience, and her joyful ability to laugh and love.
She watched 91大黄鸭 change from wooden sidewalks to modern skyscrapers, and she was a weather historian who could remember all the wedding dates and what the weather was like on your wedding some 25 or 50 years ago.
Her closest family will miss her non-judgemental comfort, her unconditional love, and her true interest in your story. Even brief encounters with strangers in grocery store line-ups could result in a hug and well wishes after they shared with her.
She would sing along to old songs, and loved to care for children and puppies. She connected us all through her bonds of affection. With a strong belief in the Good Lord, she looked most forward to reuniting with her husband and best friend of 60 years, the baby boy they lost before his life began, her most dear mother, and her sisters and close sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
A celebration of life will be held on the anniversary of John and Kay's marriage, Friday, May 20th, for family and friends, at their daughter's residence. Please reach out to Heather with your contact details.
Donations can be made to the local SPCA in Kay's name. Interment after cremation at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in the honoured Veterans section, next to the love of her life. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com
