It is with great sadness we announce that Kenneth Charles Cuthbert, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 surrounded by love on December 3, 2023.
Ken's life was full of love, happiness, and many adventures that brought him much fulfillment in life. His accomplishments brought him many titles, such as the youngest fire chief in Canada at the age of 28, as well as many other jobs that he acquired throughout his life and excelled at. In 1966, he married his sweetheart Layne and shortly after was blessed with his oldest son Stephen, followed by Kevin, then later Jeff. Ken had a passion for life that extended beyond his family. His love for the open road and the thrill of riding motorcycles was evident in the countless adventures he embarked upon, relishing the freedom and exhilaration that riding brought him. Additionally, his compassion extended to his animals as well. Ken had a special bond with his animals and found immense joy in their companionship. He had many animals on his hobby farm in Winlaw with his wife, such as chickens, horses, dogs, cats, and goats as well as many pets before them over the years. He loved them dearly.
Throughout his life, Ken touched the lives of countless individuals with his warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit. He was known for his generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer advice to anyone in need. His genuine concern for others and his ability to listen without judgement earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family will continue to be a guiding light for those he leaves behind. Ken's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
While Ken may no longer be physically present, the love he shared and the values he instilled in his family will continue to be a source of strength and guidance for years to come. He will be dearly missed and remembered fondly as a beacon of love and a pillar of strength. He took immense pride in his existing family, cherishing their accomplishments and the love they shared, finding solace and joy in the unity and achievements of his beloved family members.
Ken's love, laughter, and wisdom will be cherished and remembered always. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made an indelible mark on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Ken was predeceased by his mother Maude, his father Charlie, his siblings Gordon, Ron, Rose Marie, and Harry, and his nephew Pat, whose memories he cherished dearly. He is survived by his devoted wife, Layne, and his sons Stephen, Kevin, and Jeff. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Sara, Justis, Owen, and Lakeisha.
