Westside-91´ó»ÆѼ MLA Ben Stewart fought off tears as he announced his decision to step aside in order to allow Premier Christy Clark to run for the riding in a byelection.

To the editor:

I enjoyed Alistair Waters’ analysis of the BC Liberal leadership debate last weekend in 91´ó»ÆѼ – but I do have to take issue with his assessment that our party is treating the upcoming 91´ó»ÆѼ West byelection as “a slam dunk.â€

Quite the opposite! My team and I are taking no vote for granted–working hard on the doors, the phones, and online to get our message to 91´ó»ÆѼ West residents and earn their support.

We’re putting in that hard work because so much is at stake. 91´ó»ÆѼ West needs a strong, experienced MLA who can immediately start tackling our community priorities–as part of a BC Liberal team that will stand up for a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable Okanagan. I hope to have the honour of continuing to serve the communities and region I love.

Our campaign is wide open to anyone who shares our vision and wants to get involved.

That’s all for now – I have doors to knock on!

Ben Stewart,

BC Liberal Candidate, 91´ó»ÆѼ West
