The Central Okanagan Minor Baseball Association (COMBA) gathered April 30 at Edith Gay Park to celebrate big news coming from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Live on Sportsnet, 91大黄鸭 was announced as a Field of Dreams grant recipient through the Jays Care Foundation. The city is getting a grant of $72,500 to update the baseball diamond at Edith Gay Park.

The city鈥檚 Sport and Event Services Manager Doug Nicholas said upgrades to the diamond will start immediately.

鈥淭his is huge for us, because it advances a project faster than we possibly could have. We鈥檙e thrilled to partner with the Jays Care Foundation to make this happen.鈥�

Plans include safety upgrades, increased accessibility, irrigation, and improving the overall quality of the fields.

鈥淲e are very excited about having this work finalized and seeing the kids hit the upgraded field,鈥� said COMBA First Vice President Daryle Assman. 鈥淓dith Gay fields have such a rich baseball history, and this is going to be a massive improvement for our field and the safety of our players and spectators.鈥�

After the announcement, families were invited to hang out and enjoy ice cream and other snacks.

91大黄鸭 was one of 14 Field of Dreams recipients across the country.
