Both UBC Okanagan teams will have a week off to fine tune and reload for their next Canada West basketball action.
The and women’s squads will travel to Abbotsford Nov. 24 and 25 to play the Fraser Valley Cascades.
Claire Meadows’ (0-6) are still looking for their first win of the season after dropping two home games last weekend to the nationally-ranked University of Alberta Pandas.
Despite their best effort of the season Friday, the Heat fell 67-60 to the Pandas.
UBCO led 60-56 with 2:45 left in the game but went cold down the stretch and failed to score the rest of the way, while Alberta went on an 11-0 run. The Heat had four players in double figures, led by Emma Johnson who had a season-high 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
On Saturday, the Pandas were too much for the Heat en route to an 80-59 victory.
The bulk of the Heat offense was provided by Emma Jonas and Jordan Korol who had 12 points each. Kate Johnson continued to impress in her rookie season with eight points, five rebounds and five assists coming off the bench.

UBC Okanagan played the third-ranked Alberta Golden Bears tough in the opener of a two-game weekend set but still came away with a pair of losses.
On Friday, the Heat put up a fight before going down to defeat 92-81 to the Bears.
Aldrich Berrios led the way with 27 points to set a single game season-high for the Heat. Coming off the bench, Aloysius Callaghan finished with a solid 16 points, five rebounds and three assists.
On Saturday, it was an offensive struggle for the Heat who never tested the Bears, falling 89-39.
The country’s No. 3-ranked team made a defensive statement in the second half as UBCO managed just 11 points in the final 20 minutes. Berrios led the Heat for the second straight game with eight points, pushing closer to the 1,000-point mark for his UBCO career (980).
UBCO returns to action Nov. 24 and 25 on the road against the Fraser Valley Cascades.
