When Thrash Wrestling comes to Penticton in March, Tyler Huzar will provide the commentary for the fans.
Huzar, who is known as Smoky, is billed as the Voice of Thrash Wrestling and is in his third year of providing live commentary of the fights, which he describes as a 鈥渧iolent ballet.鈥
His involvement with the sport began five years ago when he first worked as a filmographer before moving to his commentator role.
Okanagan-based Thrash Wrestling brings shows to communities throughout the Okanagan and into Kamloops and the West Kootenay region, attracting crowds of 100 to 500 spectators.
鈥淭here鈥檚 something electric about it,鈥 he said of the sport, adding that fans include families, adults and grandparents. He enjoys hearing from people who have attended for the first time and quickly became fans of the sport.
Huzar believes the appeal of Thrash Wrestling comes because it offers an escape and a diversion for the spectators.
鈥淲restling is for everybody. I鈥檓 a big believer in that,鈥 he said.
He also appreciates the camaraderie and support shown by those involved in the sport.
The next big show is Battleground II, which will be held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on March 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
In addition to hearing Huzar provide his live commentary, fans can watch wrestlers from Summerland, Penticton and the rest of the South Okanagan battle it out in the matches.
