A former coach for Softball Canada’s men’s national team is new head coach of the UBCO Heat softball program.
Doug Allin, the third head coach in the program's history, takes over from Michelle Webster who stepped down in October to become the executive director of PacificSport Okanagan.
"I feel very fortunate to represent UBCO as their head coach and look forward to continuing the legacy of the program," Allin said. "I am eager to work hard with the student-athletes to build a Canadian championship team in the coming seasons and to continue developing a program the University and players can be proud of."
Allin brings over a decade of experience coaching Softball Canada’s men’s national team. He served as an assistant coach for the senior men’s team from 2015 to 2023 and became the head coach of the U23 men’s team in 2021. Under his leadership, Canada achieved several milestones, including a world championship in 2015, a silver medal in 2022, and bronze medals in 2017 and 2019. He also coached Canada to a silver medal at the Pan Am Games in Argentina in 2021.
Locally, Allin has coached several girls' softball teams in the Okanagan. This includes three years with the 91´ó»ÆѼ Heat from 2019 to 2022, as well as stints with the U19 Summerland Synergy in 2016 and West 91´ó»ÆѼ’s U16 team in 2015.
In addition to his coaching success, Allin has nearly 20 years of playing experience, competing with senior A teams in Squamish, Victoria, Vancouver, and Portland, where he won multiple provincial titles.
