The Penticton Vees were represented more than once last weekend when the NHL draft came to the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Ben Merrill, who is committed to suit up for the BCHL club next season, was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the sixth round (166th overall) on Saturday, June 29.
Montreal's selection came after the Nashville Predators chose Hiroki Gojsic, who played 36 regular-season games with the Vees in 2022-2023, in the third round (94th overall).
Merrill, an 18-year-old forward from Hingham, Mass., will make his BCHL debut this fall in Penticton after spending parts of the last three seasons playing prep hockey in his home state.
After his time in the South Okanagan wraps up, Merrill will head back east and hit the ice for Havard University.
The 6'4", 193-pound forward was one of six BCHL players to be selected at this year's NHL draft.
Gojsic was considered a WHL alumni after spending his last season with the 91大黄鸭 Rockets.
