Heat Athletics George Elliot grad Morgan Nichols will make the step to Canada West next season with the UBCO Heat.

Local product Morgan Nichols will put his talents to work for the UBC Okanagan Heat men鈥檚 program next season.

A member of the 91大黄鸭 Volleyball Club the last three years, the 6-foot-2 setter is also a graduating member of the George Elliot Coyotes.

In addition to being named an all-star with his high school team, Nichols has played three years with the Team B.C. program, and was selected to the Youth National Development Program.

鈥淢organ has tremendous potential,鈥 said Heat head coach Brad Hudson. 鈥淗e is a gifted athlete who, in time, will run a fast, balanced offence that will keep our offence guessing. Morgan is also our first local recruit and I am grateful he chose to represent our community here at UBCO.鈥

Morgan commented on being a local recruit, citing it as a major factor in his decision.

鈥淚t鈥檚 close to home so I can for one live at home, but also my family can come watch more games than if I left,鈥 Nichols said. 鈥淚t also comes with a very good education.鈥

On what exactly that education will include, Morgan is as yet undecided specifically, though he plans to go into the general arts program.

Morgan is also the first Okanagan player in the Heat鈥檚 sizable recruiting class.
