Vernon boxers hooked, clinched and punched their way to impressive, decision victories at a 91大黄鸭 competition on Saturday, April 20.
Roland Ingram and Tyler Colins each secured wins for Vernon鈥檚 Boxing Club at the Three Round Heroes Fight for Community event at Rutland鈥檚 Centennial Hall. The event is in honour of Cailen Vilness, a former fighter at 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Madkatz Boxing Club who tragically lost his life in the 91大黄鸭 crane collapse in 2021.
Ingram faced off against Richmond鈥檚 Leo Atkinson in the 160 pound middleweight division, where both fighters threw haymakers throughout.
The constant pressure of Ingram proved too much for Atkinson, as his fast punch combos helped the Vernonite claim a decision victory.
Colins then squared off against Salmon Arm鈥檚 Bob Stevenson in the 190 pound heavyweight division. Colins鈥� agility flummoxed Stevenson, as he was able to land mammoth jab combos to easily win the opening two rounds. In the final round, Colins鈥� relentless punching almost stopped Stevenson, as he was staggered, but was mercifully saved by the bell to avoid a knockout. Colins decision victory wrapped up a great night for Vernon. Coaches Al Harper and Ross Scott were ringside for both bouts, providing key tips.
