It wasn't the start to a four-game handstand that the West 91大黄鸭 Warriors searched for as they fell 3-2 in overtime to the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday, Nov. 29.
Judah Makway opened the scoring for Trail late in the first period, scoring his seventh goal of the season on the power play.
The Smoke Eaters held their lead until the 10:10 mark of the second frame when Warriors Kelsen Podworny scored to tie the game. Luciano Bruno and newly-acquired Axel Lofgren collected the helpers on the goal.
Early in the third period, Logan Flint scored his first career BCHL goal to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead. The goal was assisted by Simon Houge.
West 91大黄鸭 tried to hold onto their lead but Aidan Castle scored his sixth goal of the campaign, on the power play, to tie the game and force overtime.
In the extra frame, Jason Stefanek potted his 11th goal of the win to give Trail the 3-2 win.
Warriors Jack Lisson made 30 saves in the loss.
The biggest difference in the game was the Warriors special teams, as they allowed two power play goals and went 0-5 with the man-advantage.
West 91大黄鸭 remains seventh in the BCHL's Interior Conference with a record of 8-10-5-1. Trail is fourth at 13-7-2-1.
The Warriors are back in action at Royal LePage Place on Saturday night as they welcome the Spruce Grove Saints (9-12-1-0) to town. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
