First came Movember. Then Decembeard.
Movember – the month formerly known as 'November,' according to , is a moustache-growing charity event that raises funds and awareness for men’s health. Movember participants choose to grow a moustache, move by walking or running 60 kilometres throughout the month, host a Mo-ment by gathering friends or create their own challenge with Mo Your Own Way.
Decembeard, started in the U.K. and Australia, piggy-backed on the success of Movember. Teaming up with Bowel Cancer Awareness, was founded with the purpose of raising awareness about the devastating impact of bowel cancer and the importance of getting medical screenings for early detection.
It’s a great time to help inform the public – and also have a fun time supporting a good cause.
With Dec. 12 being part of Decembeard, we felt it was a good choice to show some spectacular facial hair growth from some of Vernon's men in 1958. They had gathered in the grandstands somewhere (Polson Park? Kin Race Track?) for a B.C. Centennial Event.
