A growing staple in 91大黄鸭 is continuing to expand, but losing its original location at the same time.
In a social media post on Wednesday, April 2, the coffee shop Bright Jenny announced it will be opening locations in Glenmore and Lower Mission this summer, but its Laurel Avenue location will be shutting its doors.
"The building's for sale, the lease is up, we're just moving on," noted co-owner David Upshaw in the post.
The Laurel Avenue location will be closing in July but the Glenmore space is expected to open in June and Lower Mission location in August. The exact locations of the new spaces aren't known at this time. Black Press Media has reached out to Bright Jenny to confirm the locations.
"Change is really scary and I know this is going to be really hard for some of you who have really made the Laurel location a home away from home," said co-owner Jen Upshaw.
The coffee shop has been expanding over the past couple of years as it opened a location at 1977 Kirschner Road on March 17, 2023 and opened at the spot at the 91大黄鸭 International Airport in 2024.
Its first location was on High Road under the name Canoe Coffee Roasters but rebranded to Bright Jenny in 2020, the company is entering its 10th year serving coffee around the Central Okanagan.
Despite the Laurel Avenue location closing, the northeast corner of the North End is typically an industrial area but has been growing with local businesses over the past few years including Buffalo Rouge Brewing, 91大黄鸭 Rocks and Gems, Plant Gather, and more.
