Ahead of its anticipated 2025 season, the Penticton Farmers' Market has scheduled a pair of indoor events in Penticton.
Local markets will proceed inside Cherry Lane Shopping Centre for the next two Saturdays, on April 5 and 12.
Philip Solman, assistant manager of the market, says "it has never been more crucial" for shoppers to buy local amid U.S. tariffs.
鈥淣ow more than ever, shopping at the Penticton Farmers鈥 Market is an act of resilience,鈥 said Solman. 鈥淏y supporting local farmers and businesses, shoppers are not only getting the best produce and highest quality artisanal goods, but they鈥檙e also strengthening our local economy and protecting Canadian food sovereignty.鈥
Local eggs, beef, dried fruits, juices and other items made from locally grown produce will be among the items available for purchase, according to a press release.
The markets will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days and also features honey, mushrooms, sourdough bread, baked treats, cider, spirits and teas.
Anyone visiting the markets can also enter into a draw to win a goodie bag of items from the vendors.
The Penticton Farmers' Market outdoor season, meanwhile, kicks off April 19, in the 100-block of Main Street.
The event, which has operated since 1991, will proceed every Saturday until Oct. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
