A young Kamloops man is eagerly waiting for his annual Christmas cards.
Every year Sue Simpson puts a call out to everyone to send her son Jessie a card for Christmas.
鈥淚 come home every day with mail and Jessie gets so excited when I bring them in,鈥 Simpson said about the holidays.
Jessie, despite being 26, is still a kid in his mind after he was beaten with a baseball bat in 2016 and spent nearly a year in a coma.
Jessie is in a wheelchair and spends most of his time in a care facility with seniors. Simpson has been able to bring him home for the holidays the past couple years and the pair get a kick out of reading the hundreds of cards sent to him from across the world.
鈥淗e loves the pictures. He鈥檚 bored, he鈥檚 so bored laying in his bed and the winter time is the worst for him.鈥
Simpson estimates they receive over 600 holiday cards every year.
The stream of cards coming in brings a little light in the darkness as Simpson continues to fight her son鈥檚 attacker in court. She continues to to cover legal fees, travel costs, and to keep her wheelchair van in tact so Jessie can visit home.
