After finding success with its inaugural edition in 2024, a South Okanagan-based golf tournament is coming back this fall to support minor baseball in Summerland.

The second annual Barker Invitational, named for former NHL defenceman Cam Barker, will be held at Fairview Mountain Golf Course in Oliver on Oct. 4.

More than $13,000 was raised at the event last fall in support of the Summerland Minor Hockey Association.

This year, funds will go toward repairs at Summerland Minor Baseball's diamond and the Field 96 Hendriks Jon Taylor Legacy Project.

The project was launched by Summerland's Melissa Taylor, following the death of her son, Hendriks Jon Taylor, who died at the age of 16 in 2024.

The event, hosted by Summerland hockey school Barker Development, will feature a hole-in-one prize, 50-50 and silent auction.

A shotgun start on the course will go at 9 a.m., before awards and lunch commence at 1 p.m.

"This fun-filled day is set to make a significant impact on the Summerland community," organizers from the event wrote.

Tickets can be purchased at tickettailor.com/events/barkerinvitational/1547031.

For sponsorship opportunities, people can email Taylor Arkesteyn at info@barkerdevelopment.ca.
