Improving a child’s math skills is important.

OG Mathematics uses the five senses to do so.

Two workshops are available to educators and parents in the Okanagan.

On Mar 4, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 this three-hour workshop provides a brief overview of the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching mathematics. Learning disabilities that affect math progress will also be discussed at the West 91´ó»ÆѼ Okanagan Regional Library.

Participants will use manipulatives to explore patterning, various numeracy activities and solve basic addition questions. The emphasis is on step-by-step development of skills and teaching strategies are beneficial to all learners.

A session is also available to educators on Feb. 24 at George Elliot Secondary School starting at 10:15 a.m.

The focus is on using visual – auditory – kinesthetic and tactile pathways, reducing the over-reliance on memory, and using a structured lesson plan.

Registration is required. Please contact ogmath@shaw.ca to register.
