On Nov. 15 attend an evening of empowerment and inspiration

This November, Okanagan residents are invited to spend an evening of empowerment and inspiration which is all for two good causes.

Elevate Her, will take place on Nov. 15, featuring keynote speakers Linda Edgecombe and Hugh Cluver.

Organized by Kevin Edgecombe, of Edgecombe Builders Group and Live Edge, the event is to raise money for Her International as well as the Child Advocacy Centre (CAC).

鈥淭he speeches will be about individual empowerment and life skills. Hugh and Linda have quite different pitches but both are really relatable. They are both be entertaining, where in Linda鈥檚 case quite humourous and in Hugh鈥檚 case probably more profound,鈥 explained Edgecombe.

Linda Edgecombe is an award-winning celebrity humorist, leadership and change expert, author, and hall-of-fame speaker.

Hugh Culver co-created the world鈥檚 most expensive tours (to the South Pole), has presented to more than 1,200 audiences, built and exited three businesses, and is the author of Give Me Break- The Art of Making Time Work for You.

Kevin Edgecombe said the unique part of the event is the ticket sales are designed around education and equality in Nepal.

In Nepal, $425 provides a scholarship for a girl to go to school AND her mother to attend a mother鈥檚 group for a year.

Four tickets to the event are $425 or $125 each.

鈥淭his support elevates a girl, which elevates her family, which elevates her community and her future,鈥 said Edgecombe.

Of the ticket sales 75 per cent will go to Her International and 25 per cent will go to CAC.

The Child Advocacy Centre (CAC) is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on leadership, promoting excellence in child abuse services, research, training, and education 鈥 a collective community response to protecting children from abuse.

鈥淗er International really likes to support local initiatives and this is one of those ways to do so,鈥 said Edgecombe, who sits on the board of Her International.

Her International鈥檚 goal is to provide for the advancement of education and educational opportunities for people living in poverty in Nepal and Canada, by increasing relevant knowledge, abilities, and life skills of individuals and family members, with a focus on helping girls and women when doing so.

The event will take place Nov. 15 at the Metro Hub starting at 6 p.m. For tickets go to https://www.trellis.org/elevate-her.

Mission Hill will sponsor the champagne reception, while attendees can also have appetizers and pie, enjoy music from Ellen Churchill as well participate in a silent and live auction.
