PHOTOS: Vernon revs its engine at Father鈥檚 Day car show

The 27th annual event saw 105 vintage automobiles out on display

Father鈥檚 Day provided the perfect opportunity for North Okanagan鈥檚 Vintage Car Club to continue its tradition of hosting a car show. Why?

鈥淏ecause guys love cars,鈥 said Heather Pirinen, the head of Vernon鈥檚 Car Club chapter.

It wasn鈥檛 just the men that attended the event, which is in its 27th iteration. Three women brought cars of their own to the show, with hundreds more showing up to take in the festivities.

鈥淭he first event we ever had was 40 cars and now it鈥檚 up to 105,鈥 said Pirinen.

Admission was by donation, with the funds going towards much-needed tools and equipment to high school automotive departments in the Vernon and North Okanagan school districts.

There was also a BBQ at the show at the north-end parking lot of the Village Green Centre (by SportChek), with burgers and hot dogs for sale by 91大黄鸭鈥檚 car club chapter.

According to member Laurie Feniuk, the 30-member club hosts an array of events and is open to anyone, even those without a car.

鈥淲e have done a bunch of poker runs, funerals, weddings and wine tours,鈥 said Feniuk. 鈥淎lso, our chapter will be hosting the National Vintage Car Club show next year, for the May long weekend.鈥
