Smiling children and parents piled into the Lake Country Community hall for another year of winter fun.

The second annual Indoor Children鈥檚 Festival had more than 40 vendors providing entertainment, bouncy castles, face painting, drumming games and more, Feb. 25.

One parent also attended last year鈥檚 festival.

Stella Hundert, a mother of two, said 鈥渢his year it seems bigger and more organized,鈥�

Her son enjoyed himself in the many bouncy obstacle courses while her daughter was on an adventure to find a henna tattoo.

鈥淭he kids have fun, there鈥檚 nothing else to do in the middle of February,鈥� she said, adding her and her children were enjoying themselves.

鈥淔amilies from Lake Country and neighbouring 91大黄鸭 and Vernon had a great time at the event last year and we鈥檝e expanded the event for 2017,鈥� said cultural development coordinator Ryan Donn.

The whole community got involved with the festival as the Lake Country firefighters provided a combat challenge, the Lake Country Museum did a historical photo booth and there was a teen vocal competition at the Creekside Theatre for older youths.

Fire inspector Eric Degelder set up the combat challenge.

鈥淚t鈥檚 always nice to see the little ones carrying the hose and putting the jackets on,鈥� he said.

Last year because the weather was warm, the combat challenge had a huge lineup. This year was a little more organized, said Degelder.

More than 10 firefighters volunteered at the course held a tour of the fire truck.

鈥淚t鈥檚 also great for the kids to see our faces, I鈥檝e been pretty close to visiting everyone鈥檚 house in Lake Country. When a kid recognizes our faces they can say 鈥榟ey it鈥檚 that guy from the children鈥檚 festival.鈥欌��
