The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs Downtown Youth Centre has received a donation from Tolko Industries, aimed at helping young people.

Tolko donated $3,000 to help young people access temporary shelter, have a hot and nutritious meal, reconnect with family members, talk with a mental health counsellor and, if needed, be supported to find long-term stable housing.

There have been 615 youth seeking the services of the Downtown Youth Centre in the past year.

鈥淵outh in tough situations can often feel isolated from the community. Supporters like Tolko remind youth that they have people looking out for them,鈥 said Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs CEO Diane Entwistle. 鈥淲e want to offer the best services to youth in a space that is comfortable and welcoming.鈥

鈥漈olko has a long history of supporting youth in our communities,鈥 added Tolko communications coordinator Maritza Reilly. 鈥淲e want to support youth in need, so they can lead successful adult lifestyles and the Downtown Youth Centre helps bring them to that point.鈥
