If you thought 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Big White Ski Resort didn鈥檛 receive snow in the summer, think again.

Non-sticking summer snowfall isn鈥檛 an unusual sight on the mountain.

鈥淭he top of the mountain sits at 7,606 feet higher than Whistler Blackcomb and it snows at least once every month,鈥 said Michael Ballingall Sr. Vice President of Sale and Marketing at Big White Ski Resort.

But, that wasn鈥檛 the case for avid mountain biker Brock Curzon who described his time on the lower level biking runs as quite the experience.

Curzon wrote in an Instagram post, 鈥渨ell that was a solid five seasons in four hours.鈥

鈥淎ny time it鈥檚 wet the riding is way more challenging but this was also dealing with hail pelting off your face, temperatures as low as -2 C, winds as high as 20 km/hr, plus the rain, snow and mud on your goggles.鈥

Curzon explained that extremely hot conditions leave little to no moisture for the dirt and that snow is not ideal either. He said the snow was beginning to accumulate on one of the Bullet chair lift decks.

鈥淒efinitely, don鈥檛 want the snow, or for it to be that cold or wet.鈥

Big White Mountain staff said this is the wettest summer season they鈥檝e witnessed since their mountain bike park opening three summers ago.

鈥淚t鈥檚 extremely unusual,鈥 said Ballingall.

Ballingal said the mountain is expecting a set of drier patches this coming week.
