Calling all horse fanatics.

Vernon鈥檚 Schubert Centre will be the site of the annual Horsey Ladies fundraiser, set to take place on Friday, Nov. 17.

The event has previously been at the Spallumcheen Golf Course for many years, but the Horsey Ladies group has outgrown that facility and tickets had always sold out with a waiting list.

鈥淲e also found that we were not raising much more money than the previous years, with the attendance remaining the same every year,鈥 said committee member Nancy Roman. 鈥淪o by moving to the Schubert Centre we are able to increase our attendance and hopefully raise more money for charity.鈥

The Horsey Ladies gather for dinner every year to 鈥渃elebrate Christmas and our love of horses,鈥 according to Roman.

The group is neither a club or society, with no board of directors or a bank account.

鈥淲e are just a bunch of gals that get together every year and raise money through the silent and toonie auctions and then give back to a local charity,鈥 Roman said. 鈥淲e never know who is going to win, as the gals are each given a vote that evening and the majority of votes wins all the proceeds.鈥

You can purchase tickets to the fundraiser at stores across the Okanagan: Briteland, Cowboys Choice (Vernon), Country West Supply (Armstrong), Touch A Texas (Salmon Arm), Diamond H Tack (91大黄鸭).

Tickets cost $45 per person and includes a turkey buffet dinner.

To date, the Horsey Ladies have raised over $126,000 for local charities. More information can be found by emailing Nancy Roman: nancyroman@telus.net.
