After just one term in office, residents of 91大黄鸭-Lake Country have voted former MP Stephen Fuhr off the island.

鈥淎s they say, the tribe has spoken,鈥 said Fuhr in a consolation speech at BNA on Monday night.

鈥淭he good news is I started the journey with 40 friends and I have a lot more of them now and we have a Liberal government at the end of the day.鈥

But, what鈥檚 next for the man that shocked the polls in 2015 by unseating the incumbent 鈥 and heavily favoured 鈥 Conservative candidate Ron Cannan, isn鈥檛 all that surprising.

鈥淎 nap?鈥 he quipped.

鈥淚鈥檝e obviously got to get back to Ottawa and roll up my apartment; wind down my office.鈥

And it鈥檚 that office that had Fuhr nearly in tears through the night.

鈥淭hat staff needs to stay at that office,鈥 he said, adding that he kept Cannan鈥檚 staff on when he got the job. 鈥淚t was a big help to me. I鈥檇 recommend that Tracy really consider keeping them if they鈥檇 like to stay and they can get her all up and running.鈥

When asked if he would make another political endeavour, Fuhr鈥檚 answer was succinct: 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know.鈥

鈥淚t might be a little early for me to answer that question,鈥 Fuhr said as the final results still poured in on the bar鈥檚 TV screens.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 know what the future holds for me. I think I can add value. I鈥檓 not ready to throw in the towel on adding value to something.

鈥淲hether that鈥檚 politics? I鈥檓 not sure if there鈥檚 an opportunity there or not.鈥

While the former MP doesn鈥檛 have a firm grasp on what his future looks like just yet, he does know where he鈥檒l be.

鈥淚鈥檓 staying here. I love it here,鈥 said Fuhr.

鈥淚鈥檝e been trying to get back here for 20 odd years when I was in the military, just waiting for the day I was going to retire and move back here to B.C. I don鈥檛 plan on going anywhere.鈥
