A recent week-long BC Highway Patrol operation nabbed 18 impaired drivers and issued 35 tickets to commercial drivers in the Okanagan, including Osoyoos, Penticton and West 91大黄鸭.
Police dogs assisted in the operation from March 16 to 20, which also included 27 files on drug seizures and contraband tobacco.
"Many people don鈥檛 realize that BC Highway Patrol is trained to do more than look for unsafe driving behaviour," Inspector Lori Orstad said. "We have officers trained in security awareness and crime-detection techniques for identifying traveling criminals and we also use drug-detection dogs."
The operation involved BC Highway Patrol's Integrated Impaired Driving Unit, Traffic Safety Unit, police dog service and officers from local Okanagan detachments. Police also removed two commercial vehicles from service during the operation.
RCMP added that Highway 3A, near Penticton, was among the operation's check stops.
