The Okanagan Wildfire Responders Gratitude Event (OWRGE) is set for Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Park in West 91大黄鸭.
鈥淟ast August, the McDougall Creek wildfire threatened our community, and it was the courage and tireless efforts of our firefighters, first responders, and support workers that helped keep us safe,鈥 reads a media release from OWRGE chair Tom Groat. 鈥淣ow, it鈥檚 our turn to show our gratitude.鈥
The schedule has events for all ages including a Walk of Heroes ceremony and performances by local artists and musicians.
Schedule:
- 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Entertainment and family activities;
- 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.- Walk of Heroes and official ceremony;
- 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Free Barbeque sponsored by Evangel/Emmanuel Church;
- 12 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Stage entertainment sponsored by Big Steel Box.
The Walk of Heroes will be led by Fire Chief Jason Brolund and the West 91大黄鸭 Firefighter Honour Guard, followed by speeches from local, provincial, and federal representatives and a special Rotarian presentation.

- 11:45 a.m. - Mount Boucherie Secondary School Band;
- 12:20 p.m. - Mount Boucherie Secondary School Jazz Band;
- 1 p.m. - Nico and friends;
- 2 p.m. - Andrew Johns;
- 2:45 p.m. - Crisprr;
- 3:40 p.m. - Nico and friends.
The event is free and donations are welcomed, with proceeds benefiting the West 91大黄鸭 Professional Firefighters Charitable Society.
