91大黄鸭鈥檚 nordic ski club prays to the snow gods

Santa stopped by to kick off Telemark鈥檚 season

The cross-country skiing season is underway at 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Telemark Nordic Ski Club despite unseasonably warm temperatures.

Mike Edwards, general manager at the club said that the skiing is safe with a 10 cm base. The club opened on Dec. 16. Last year the club opened on Nov. 12, which allowed for the club to have its longest season in 30 years.

Normally Edwards would like to have the trails groomed daily but he鈥檒l have to wait for more snow before that can happen. This isn鈥檛 the first time the club has had to exercise patience as it awaited snow. In 2018, the club didn鈥檛 open until Dec. 26. Edwards said you 鈥渁lways have to be positive.鈥

As the competitive season approaches, positivity and snow are in anticipation. The opening on Saturday featured a ski with Santa. The club will be hosting more events and competitions such as the Teck BC Track Attack Championships Feb 24-25 2024.
