It was quite the world-wind couple weeks for Colton Dach.

The 91大黄鸭 Rockets captain at the start of last year won gold with Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships on Jan. 5, even though he wasn鈥檛 able to finish the tournament because of an injury.

Despite the injury, just two days after the tournament finale, the Rockets traded Dach to the Seattle Thunderbirds.

In return, the Rockets got forward Ty Hurley, defenceman Ethan Mittelsteadt, a first round pick in the 2024 draft, a conditional second round pick in the 2025 draft, and a conditional fourth round pick in the 2023 draft.

鈥淎nytime you trade your captain, it鈥檚 a very tough decision,鈥� said Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton after the trade. 鈥淲ith Colton being injured and not available to play until likely March 1, we felt that it was in the best interests of our team and Colton to make this trade.

Dach went on to help Seattle win the 2023 WHL Championship and play in the Memorial Cup.
