The Alberta man who took a woman he met online for a harrowing date in Peachland last summer was sentenced to 14 months in jail.

Jean-Francois Dufour, 36, pleaded guilty in October to forcible confinement without lawful authority and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. For that he was sentenced to 14 months, with two years probation.

Dufour was brought to the attention of West 91大黄鸭 Mounties Aug. 13 2016 at 8:39 a.m., when a woman called to say an online date that led to a meet-up in Peachland had gone terribly awry鈥攕he had been held against her will, threatened and injured during what had started as a date.

鈥淭he suspect allegedly confined the woman to a vehicle and drove her around the area for several hours before eventually releasing her,鈥� said Const. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey, at the time.

The victim, an adult woman, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.

Dufour, who has no prior criminal record, has been custody since Aug. 18. With time served he will be incarcerated for an additional two weeks.
