Four Central Okanagan organizations were recently given funding under Canada鈥檚 Homelessness Partnering Strategy.

The Community Advisory Board on Homelessness announced Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, Canadian Mental Health Association 91大黄鸭-District, New Opportunities for Women Canada and the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs were awarded federal contributions.

鈥淲e鈥檙e thankful for our continued partnership with the government to improve the lives of marginalized individuals in our community through the Homelessness Partnering Strategy funding,鈥� said Community Entity coordinator with the Central Okanagan Foundation Mia Burgess.

More than $1.2 million dollars was awarded for funding from 2017 to 2019. The Homelessness Partnering Strategy funds programs that meet two locally identified priorities: reducing homelessness through a housing-first approach and improving the self-sufficiency of homeless individuals and families and those who are at imminent risk of homelessness.

This balanced approach to funding ensures the community can remain flexible to invest in proven approaches that complement housing-first methods and measurably reduce homelessness at the local level.

The Central Okanagan Foundation manages the Homelessness Partnering Strategy funding in collaboration with the Community Advisory Board on Homelessness.
