Numerous organizations contributed funds to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation in December.

The organizations included health auxiliaries, firefighters, families and businesses.

The Auxiliary to the Penticton Regional Hospital presented two donations in the month of December.

The first was a cheque for $18,000 in support of the 19th annual Tree of Dreams campaign, to benefit the hospital鈥檚 new Oncology Clinic.

Later, the Auxiliary contributed another $30,000 for critical needs at the hospital.

The auxiliary has more than 30 volunteers in its goal to assist with health care in the community.

June Revell-Quevillon and her team of volunteers at Treasures and Trinkets raised $50,000 towards their pledge for the new Oncology Clinic at the hospital.

The team offers an array of items including fashion accessories, magazines, toys, home decor and frozen dinners.

The shop is in the David Kampe Tower at the hospital.

Fountain Tire also contributed to the medical foundation.

In November, traditionally the busiest month for tire repairs, Chuck Thompson, owner of the business, donated all proceeds from repairs to support the Oncology Clinic campaign. This effort brought in $1,475.

The Penticton Firefighters contributed $2,000 for the emergency department at the hospital, to enhance the experience of young patients. The funds will be used to purchase stuffed animals for the children. The donation will also fund access to the Disney Plus streaming service.

The Leier family announced a bursary to the medical foundation.

The donation of $70,000 establishes the Leier Family Bursary, dedicated to supporting frontline staff in the South Okanagan Similkameen who work in the field of oncology.
