A significant connection in 91大黄鸭鈥檚 bike network was completed last week.

The bike route on Sutherland Avenue is now open to cyclists following the concept of two-way protected bike lanes already established on Pandosy and Ethel streets.

The lanes were closed for construction of the bike and pedestrian bridge at Mill Creek.

鈥淣ow that the bridge crossing at Mill Creek is complete, and the bike signals fully operational at the Richter and Pandosy intersections, we鈥檙e excited to formally invite the community to start using the new Sutherland bike route,鈥 said Gordon Foy, City of 91大黄鸭 transportation engineering manager.

鈥淭he protected bike lanes, with a concrete barrier separating bikes from vehicles, provide a safe and convenient route between popular bike corridors on Ethel and Abbott streets.鈥

The City of 91大黄鸭 urges bikers and drivers in the area to pay close attention to the traffic pattern changes and the new influx of bikers that will be using the routes.

The completion of the bike routes extends the growing options and investments into the downtown 91大黄鸭 bike areas.

鈥淪utherland Avenue is an ideal location for this type of bike route,鈥 said Foy.

鈥淲e鈥檙e committed to investing in diverse transportation and mobility options, and connecting high-density areas of 91大黄鸭, to make it easier to get around 91大黄鸭.鈥
