A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the Okanagan.
Environment Canada put the watch in effect at 8:58 a.m. Saturday morning (May 27), stating 鈥渃onditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.鈥
There is a 60 per cent of showers starting Saturday afternoon, while temperatures are expected to reach 27 C. The storm could be capable of 15 to 20 millimetres of rain per hour, which could cause pooling on roads and flash floods.
鈥淪evere thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,鈥 says Environment Canada.
