91大黄鸭鈥檚 Gospel Mission invites the community to their 6th annual fundraising 5K walk or 10K run today, joining those they serve in their Strides to End Homelessness event.
The goal this year is to raise $45,000 to support 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Gospel Mission鈥檚 emergency shelter and at Harmony House, their women鈥檚 transitional house. Services include meals, shelter, life skills training, Bible Studies and more.
鈥淚鈥檓 so excited for our 6th annual walk to raise funds for programs that help men and women get back on track with their lives,鈥 said Randy Benson, executive director. 鈥淎lthough this has been a very busy year we have celebrated with many individuals who have found their own homes and their new place in our community. We are working hard to make sure every person has the opportunity to improve their situation and are so grateful for the support of people taking part in our walk.鈥
Nancy Tordiffe, director of Harmony House, spoke about the impact that Strides to End Homelessness has made over the years in 91大黄鸭.
鈥淭he ladies in the Harmony program not only benefit from the fundraising for programs but also volunteer for this walk, at the Thrift Store and for many other events the Mission puts on. They are at Harmony House to regain their lives but also love the opportunity to give back to others. When the ladies first come to Harmony House they never imagine that soon they will be in the position of helping others. It means the world to them,鈥 she said.
Registration starts at 3 p.m. with the walk beginning at 4 p.m. at 259 Leon Avenue in 91大黄鸭 today.
