The lookout trail at Dilworth Mountain Park off of Chilcotin Crescent is now closed to the public due to dry conditions and an extreme fire hazard rating.

Dilworth Mountain Park consists of natural areas adjacent to the neighbourhoods along Dilworth Drive and Summit Road.

鈥淣atural parks, grass and underbrush can easily ignite with dry and hot conditions,鈥 said urdban forestry supervisor Andrew Hunsberger. 鈥淭his area has been identified as a potential fire risk in the past and with the current conditions, we need to take the necessary precautions.鈥

City staff will continue to monitor the situation and will reopen the park once it is assessed as safe, according to a City of 91大黄鸭 release.

Campfires and barbecues are not allowed in city or regional district parks. Smoking is also prohibited in all parks and public spaces.

Anyone who notices smoke or fire in any park should call 9-1-1 to speak to the fire department or *5-5-5-5 on your cell phone for the BC Wildfire Management Branch, said the release.
