The Seymour Main Forest Service Road remains closed in both directions northeast of St. Ives and will remain closed until further notice.

The CSRD has not received any indication from the Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations (MFLNRO) at to when the Seymour Main Forest Service Road will reopen.

Update at 6 a.m. Sunday, May 7

The Ministry Of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources advise that an alternate vehicle route along the 1020 Blueberry Celista Forest Service Road is passable for residents of Seymour Arm if required. 鈥楾he Seymour Main Forest Service Road remains closed in both directions northeast of St. Ives and will remain closed until further notice.

Update at 11:37 a.m.

The Shuswap Emergency Program has activated an Emergency Operations Centre to support those affected by landslide events on the Seymour Main Forest Service Road at 2 km and 3 km.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources are currently conducting a geotechnical assessment of the area.

The Seymour Main Forest Service Road remains closed in both directions northeast of St. Ives and will remain closed until further notice. The public are requested to stay away from the affected area.

Two mudslides have also affected the North Shuswap area.

The Shuswap Emergency Program received reports of two mudslides occurring at 2 km and 3 km on the Seymour Main Forest Service Road northeast of St. Ives in Electoral Area F.

The road is currently closed.

On Friday night, scanner reports indicate Shuswap Search and Rescue was called to the area with both a ground and water response, but it is not known at this time what the nature of the call-out was.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations will be assessing the area on Saturday, May 6 to evaluate the incident and determine a timeline for reopening.
