Warm weather has opened Vernon鈥檚 BMX track earlier than usual.
Ranger Park opened to the public and club riders Friday, March 15.
鈥淭his is the first time in years we鈥檝e been able to be open for spring break,鈥� said club president Shylo Orchard. 鈥淯sually we鈥檙e still shoveling snow.鈥�
While the club season doesn鈥檛 start until April 8, the track is ready to ride for anyone eager to get some laps in.
The dirt has been rolled and raked and 鈥渋t鈥檚 in the most amazing shape right now,鈥� according to Orchard.
The starting gate has also been freshened up with a new wrap from Speedpro Signs.
The gates will remain open unless it rains.
鈥淲hen it gets slick and slippery it gets dangerous,鈥� said Orchard, adding volunteers check the track on a regular basis to monitor conditions.
