The wheeling and dealing continues for the 91大黄鸭 Rockets ahead of the WHL's trade deadline on Thursday, Jan. 9.

On Tuesday morning (Jan. 7), the team announced they have traded defenceman Marek Rocak to the Swift Current Broncos.

鈥淗e鈥檚 been here for three years, and I think he鈥檚 come along as a player,鈥 said Rockets president and general manager Bruce Hamilton.鈥淗e鈥檚 been a real nice person to have around our organization and has been a loyal member of our hockey club since the day we drafted him. We wish Marek nothing but the best and thank him for his time in 91大黄鸭.鈥

Rocak is coming off winning bronze with Czechia at the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championships.

Drafted by 91大黄鸭 in the 2022 CHL Import Draft, the 19-year-old played in 119 regular season games for 91大黄鸭, scoring 10 goals and adding 50 assists.

In exchange for Rocak, the Rockets acquired 2006-born forward Dawson Gerwing and a fourth round selection in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

Gerwing, from Meadow Lake, Sask. has 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 69 career WHL games.

With the trade, 91大黄鸭 now has 14 picks in the 2025 draft, including three in the fourth round.

91大黄鸭 is back in action on Friday, Jan. 10 when they welcome the Prince George Cougars to town. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. at Prospera Place.
